OK to Edit Natively
Keep in mind that changes made natively will not sync back to Metadata and may be overwritten. For example, if you adjust audience criteria natively and then make changes again via Metadata using target groups or exclusions, your native changes will be replaced.
Areas you can edit natively without breaking the connection:
- Audience criteria
- Ad Copy (Headline, Image, CTA)
- Placement (Facebook/Instagram)
- Conversation Ads (LinkedIn)
Not Recommended to Edit Natively
Campaign Names
- If you adjust the campaign name natively, you may not be able to find it since the name cannot be changed in Metadata.
Bidding Type
- Setting a bidding type that is not supported by Metadata will break the sync and may cause errors.
Daily Budget
- Setting the daily budget as recurring or using an unsupported setting will break the connection.
- If Optimizer is enabled, any changes made by Optimizer will override your native changes.
Deleting Campaigns/Assets
- It is best not to delete any campaigns or assets from the channel natively as this will cause sync errors. Metadata references the original ID of the campaign/asset. If it is removed, we will no longer be able to link to it, resulting in errors.
