This article will cover common questions related to building Salesforce Criteria and List View Audiences in Metadata.
Read How to: Build Salesforce audiences for steps on building new Salesforce audiences.
What is the difference between Contact and Account?
Salesforce Contact - Newly introduced in our most recent release now you can create Audiences based on Contacts that are in your Salesforce. This method will pull contacts from your Salesforce to generate a Contact List that will be uploaded to either Facebook or LinkedIn. This does not upload an Account list.
The Contact List that is pulled from your SFDC we will enrich that against our data providers to find any additional personal/business emails if we find a match to ensure the best targeting with those Contacts.
Salesforce Account - Create an audience based on a specific Account list from your Salesforce.
For Salesforce Accounts (Static) an Account List will be pulled from your Salesforce and that Account List will be run against our data providers to enrich a Contact List which will be uploaded to Facebook or LinkedIn.
For Salesforce Accounts & LinkedIn Native an Account List will be pulled from your Salesforce and directly uploaded to LinkedIn. Any Contact filters that are defined here will be natively set once the Campaign is launched.
*Note: Both of the MetaMatch Contact & Account audiences take 24H to complete building.
Salesforce Accounts criteria builder doesn't show fields I need
Currently, Salesforce Accounts / Contacts Criteria builder only supports top-level fields (fields directly on the object). If you're trying to search for cross object fields for example ownership fields those will unfortunately not work at this time.
Check to make sure the user who is logged into the Salesforce integration has permissions to view those fields as well, if the user logged in doesn't have permissions to those fields they won't be able to select them if they are top level fields.
Field types we don't support currently:
- Cross object fields like Lookup / Owner fields / External Lookup
- Text Area (Long / Rich)
- Roll-Up Summary
- Geolocation
- Time
- Text (Encrypted)
Estimate is returning no results
Check to make sure that your criteria are entered correctly if you are trying to enter more than one value in a text field for example Data,User
This will not work and it needs to be entered like this:
You can also use the advanced filter logic to do AND or OR
None of my criteria works based on limitations
If you are unable to create a segment based on these limitations a workaround is to create a List View which are views created directly inside Salesforce where you can define the criteria there and then pull the list into Metadata.
To do this first create your List View in Salesforce. Make sure that the first two columns are also Account Name and Website as these need to be first in the view to properly pull the List View. Also make sure that the view is visible to the logged-in user to SFDC, if the view is only shared to you then it may not be visible when you go to select it.
Once the List View is created navigate to your Salesforce audience type and choose Salesforce List View and select the drop-down to select your view.
Please note that for Salesforce Accounts MetaMatch List View is not possible with Dynamic at this time.
My report I built in SFDC does not show in Saved Criteria
Currently, the Metadata platform only supports List View and at this time Reports built in SFDC will not show. When building a new report in the Metadata platform there will be an option to click "Save Criteria" after saving the report it will show under Saved Criteria to be used later.
My List View I created does not show in the list of available options
Check to ensure that the List View you created is available to the user who is currently connected to SFDC. If the List View is not shared with that user it won't be visible in the drop-down to choose from.
Returned Account results do not match List View in SFDC
When selecting the List View in MD the results for Accounts don't match with the List View in SFDC. Please make sure of the following:
- Account Name, Website are the first two columns in the List View
- User logged into Integration has permissions to Account Name, Website fields
